pulp summer slam 2024

Since its inception in the early 2000s, PULP SUMMER SLAM has made a name for itself as the
premiere rock and metal festival in the country. Annually boasting a hard-hitting line up
composed of the brash, the bold and the brazen.

For years, the festival has championed living loud and celebrating a lifestyle that was once deemed un-mainstream for others. And as this yearly assault of music comes to a conclusion this 2024, there’s no denying the impact it has made in the local music scene. It may be the last Summer Slam, but definitely…it didn’t go down without delivering a colossal conclusion

Amoranto Stadium was once again filled with music lovers and moshpit cravers as they came full force to face a robust lineup featuring a plethora of international acts. As the home of the Slam for years, this space once again provided sacred ground for rock.

The first part of the afternoon offered a back-to-back barrage featuring J-core/K-core act Prompts, Korean all- female Rolling Quartz, Michigan’s nu-metal group Of Virtue. As the sun went down, the energy went up care of Italy’s aria cum metal act Fleshgod Apocalypse, hardcore act Fit for An Autopsy and Brazil’s deathmetal outfit – Crypta. Capping the day were emotive act La Dispute and crowd favorite Story of The Year – both being first timers in the Philippine concert circuit. PULP SUMMER SLAM XX came to a crescendo with the power that is Parkway Drive.

The rock heroes from Australia showcased their brand of metalcore amplified to a hundred thanks to its awe-inspiring set. Their performance was accented with an explosive fireworks display, a perfect gesture to bid farewell to this historic show.

As fans exited the Amoranto Stadium, one thing is for sure. Each member has their own story to tell of the slam. From decades of witnessing local and foreign musical heroes come together, to forming wall of deaths with icons of rock, and forming friendships in moshpits. We’ll definitely miss the legacy that is PULP SUMMER SLAM.

Buzzsetter extends gratitude to PULP Live World for the invite to the PULP SUMMER SLAM XX WORLDS COLLIDE: THE END. The event was covered by Paul Chuapoco and Earl Dumlao.
