The Ransom Collective Unveils Vibrant Comeback Single “3 AM”, Their First New Song In 3 Years

Today, indie-folk band The Ransom Collective unveils their long-awaited comeback single, “3 AM,” which will be released in 2022. It is their first single release in over three years.

The six-piece band is still comprised of the witty and friendly musicians that their fans adored. TRC, composed of Kian Ransom (lead vocals, guitar), Redd Claudio (drums), Jermaine Choa Peck (percussions, vocals), Leah Halili (bass, vocals), Lily Gonzales (keyboards, vocals), and Muriel Gonzales (violin, vocals), has remained cohesive despite the fact that some of its members have decided to remain outside the country for the past few years.
According to the band, the song depicts a journey from resistance to acceptance. It discusses the difficulties of letting go and the eventual triumph and growth that result from the process. (OFFICIAL LYRIC VIDEO HERE)
According to the song’s composer, Kian, it’s about learning to accept the harsh realities of life with less resistance and benefiting from the peace and clarity that results.
“Personally, I’ve struggled with trying to force things to be what I want or hope they will be, as opposed to accepting them for what they actually are. It is simple to develop tunnel vision and remain unaware of the formation of blind spots. The more resistant I am, the more entrenched I become, which inevitably leads to an explosion. Recent experiences have made me aware of this pattern. And I am learning to be more open and honest with myself and others,” he says.
The design of the album cover was also their idea, and it was composed of artistic paper cuts.
The band admitted that, despite being reworked multiple times, they enjoyed the entire recording process of this catchy track because they “found a direction they really liked.” In fact, “3 AM” is their “most heavily tracked song to date,” Redd and Jermaine said during the quick yet fun IG live midnight salubong for the song’s release. There are a great deal of audible and tactile elements here.
With the assistance of song producers Mikey Amistoso and Marco De Leon, the additional horn section added a whole new dimension to the song’s overall sound, which was supported by a lively vibe and a feel-good groove.
As for their fans, they can anticipate “3 AM” to be as catchy as their previous hits. TRC also intends to finally brush off the cobwebs, reunite, and play live shows in the Metro region next year. Jerms exclaims with glee, “We just wanted to have fun again, just enjoy making music.”
“3 AM” is now available on all digital platforms via Mustard Music, a subsidiary of Universal Records Philippines, and is featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday Philippines playlist for the week.
