Stela Cole’s New Single, “Rhapsody In Pink,” Is Out Now On Ultra Records
Stela Cole, an up-and-coming pop singer and songwriter, has released “Rhapsody in Pink,” a glammed-up and gritty song about knowing your own worth, on Ultra Records. The track is a bold pop-meets-hip-hop version of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.” It shows off Stela’s creativity and versatility with stunning and confident vocals over glorious bursts of horns, steady claps, and bass-heavy beats.
“sultry, feisty, impish, and bold as brass…She has a voice that delivers the goods… but emanates an edge, a femme fatale purr that’s chillingly charming” — HuffPost
“[Stela Cole’s] songs have an almost addictive quality” — Refinery29
“Stela Cole is definitely one to watch” — JustJared
“She’s equal parts sunshine and gum-drops but isn’t afraid to take a few hostages if need be….Cole is going to completely [upend] the music scene” — PopDust
“Unapologetically punchy pop, with hints of flair and fun.” — Alfitude
“”Rhapsody in Pink” is much more to me than just a song. It’s an art piece. It has completely changed the way I see myself as an artist, and I feel more real than ever,” Stela says. “I wrote the song about knowing your worth, especially as a woman, and I love how it’s fun and playful but also sends the message that I won’t be messed with.”

She says more about how the song came to be: “I’ve been planning it for over five years. I’ve always liked George Gershwin, and his “Rhapsody in Blue” is one of my all-time favorite pieces. I was watching Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby one night in 2016, and it was playing at the party scene where Jay Gatsby was first introduced. I had just started writing music, and it made me have this crazy realization. I wondered, “Why hasn’t anyone flipped “Rhapsody in Blue?” I wrote down the idea and kept it in my notes for years until 2020, when it became public domain. I still wanted to wait for the right energy, and I needed to be the most confident version of myself to pull off the lyrical concept I had in mind. When I met producer Alex Veronneau in November 2021, I knew he was my guy. I had just ended a relationship and felt like the strongest, most independent version of myself. It was the best of both worlds. Alex and I worked on “Rhapsody in Pink” until 4 a.m. one night, and it came together easily. I felt so whole when I left the studio. I had finally written the song of my dreams.”
Stela Cole’s music is explosive, elegant, and seems to be bigger than life. It has the kind of unbridled confidence that stays with you. But for the singer/songwriter from Georgia, the bold energy of her perfectly composed pop comes from years of fighting for her vision and refusing to give up the depth and complexity of her art. The Los Angeles-based artist has just signed with Ultra Records and is about to release her most extravagantly realized music to date. This will be the first time she shows the full force of her soulful voice and fearless authenticity.
“Rhapsody In Pink” is a powerful start to the next era of Stela’s music. It’s her first single since she performed on NBC’s American Song Contest earlier this year, representing the state of Georgia and breaking the show’s season record for week 1 streaming with break-up single “DIY,” which was co-written by Tele (Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts”). Stela has put out two EPs, Throwing Up Butterflies (2018) and Woman Of The Hour (2020), as well as a number of independent releases, such as the hit single “I Shot Cupid,” the raw and rapturous “You F O,” and the sultry “Love Like Mine.” Her music has been streamed more than 80 million times around the world, and publications like Refinery29, HuffPost, PopDust, Just Jared, and Digital Journal have praised her
Stela Cole will write more in 2022, so stay tuned!
